Judith Otunnu

Office of Sustainability

Judith Otunnu is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Environmental Studies with minors in Spanish & Urban and Community Studies. She is passionate about exploring the social implications of environmental and climate issues, particularly their impacts on marginalized communities, and advancing sustainable solutions that are both equitable and effective. As a member of the UConn Honors Program, Judith is completing an Honors Thesis examining environmental justice and the impacts of combined sewer overflows on communities in Connecticut.

Beyond academics, Judith previously worked for two years as a Sustainability Outreach Intern with the UConn Office of Sustainability, where she engaged with the campus community around sustainability issues. Judith also serves on the E-Boards of EcoHusky, Ecoposium, and the UConn Lions Club, where she helps lead initiatives that connect students with environmental and service-based opportunities, reflecting her commitment to community engagement and service.

At COP31, Judith hopes to strengthen her understanding of how environmental justice issues manifest on a global scale and learn from diverse perspectives that will inform her work as an environmental scientist after graduation
