Emily Rodriguez is a junior from New Britain, Connecticut majoring in English and Secondary English Education. Emily has a passion for researching social justice issues and as a returning Sustainability Outreach Intern, hopes to learn more about her community, environmental justice, and how to promote sustainability in her very residence hall. Last year, along with her involvement with Her Campus, she found much creativity in writing about the OS by sharing resources about how to get involved on campus and what the OS is doing to live up to its missions at UConn and in Connecticut. This year, she is inspired to research more about environmental justice and how to represent minorities that are often overlooked when it comes to sustainability issues.

Along with being an SOI, Emily is a fifth-grade Reading tutor and in her free time enjoys going on scenic walks, going to concerts, and reading as much as possible! She is thrilled to be a part of the Office of Sustainability for her second year and can’t wait to come up with creative events, collaborate with other SOIs, and connect with the community.
