Chapal Bhavsar
Chapal Bhavsar is a junior at the University of Connecticut, majoring in Finance within the School of Business as a member of the Honors Program. He has had a keen interest in global finance/economics and politics from early in his undergraduate career.
In 2023, Chapal was one of 39 undergraduates from across the United States, and first from UConn since 2015, to be awarded a prestigious Fulbright award to the United Kingdom. At the University of Exeter, he focused on the energy infrastructure of Algeria and the economic and political impacts of making it more sustainable. Additionally, Chapal has published papers on the impact of natural resources on the stability of Middle Eastern nations and a comprehensive analysis of US-UK energy policy following the invasion of Ukraine.
Chapal has also engaged in hands-on sustainability work since high school. In Danbury Public Schools, the lowest funded district in Connecticut, as a high school student, he secured $20,000 from the State to install 12 new water fountains and bottle-filling stations. This initiative has saved over 50,000 plastic water bottles from being used annually at Danbury High School.
In his free time, Chapal enjoys exploring nature through long hikes and walks. He looks forward to attending COP29 to further develop sustainable business and political practices, aiming to foster a positive future for the planet with favorable economic and political outcomes.
