Agatha Freitas

Regional Sustainability Intern, Stamford

Agatha Freitas is a junior from Fairfield, Connecticut, majoring in English on the pre-dental track at UConn. She is Co-Founder and Secretary of UConn’s Applied Biotechnology Club, a research assistant, and an oral surgery assistant. She co-teaches a grant-funded hydroponics course through Seeds2Sustain addressing food insecurity, and developed Greening the Gap, a grant-funded heat mapping project examining the unequal distribution of infrastructure in Stamford. For Agatha, the intersection of knowledge and access is what connects her work in dentistry to environmental justice. Trilingual in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, she is drawn to how environmental conditions shape health outcomes in underserved communities. At COP31, she hopes to explore how climate impacts compound existing disparities for low-income and immigrant populations.
