In December 2019, a cohort of UConn students, faculty and staff traveled to Madrid, Spain as a part of the UConn@COP25 Fellowship Program to attend the annual UN Conference of the Parties (COP) climate change conference. This weeklong experience exposes students to world leaders, climate scientists, and students from all over the world interested in learning about climate change and its various global impacts. The Office of Sustainability hosted its annual Climate Change Café where fellows shared their experience and perspectives on climate change with the UConn community. The online event featured keynote presentations from Eric Fine (Project Manager, Yale Program on Climate Change Communication) and Scott Wallace (UConn Associate Professor of Journalism and National Geographic Contributor) that addressed climate change communication issues and solutions. This was an excellent opportunity for students interested in global politics, climate change, and the UConn@COP program to learn more about these topics and how they can be part of the solution (and about the opportunity to attend next year’s COP!)
