Victoria Zamora Gomez

Sustainability Outreach Intern, Garrigus Suites

Office of Sustainability

Victoria is a junior from Norwalk, Connecticut majoring in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics. She is passionate about studying and researching urban sustainability and environmental justice in vulnerable communities. This fall, Victoria will be involved in research that quantifies the societal cost associated with US airport emissions. The research will work on converting pollutant emissions into monetized costs and provide a framework for evaluating the severity of their impacts on surrounding populations. In working as a Sustainability Outreach Intern, Victoria hopes to apply her knowledge of sustainability into community events that will engage people in her residence hall and encourage implementing sustainable practices in daily life.

On campus, Victoria is also involved in the Beekeeping Club and Lions Club. Additionally, she enjoys sharing resources that will help students achieve their personal and academic goals, as well as connecting with students at UConn through her involvement as an FYE mentor and TME mentor. In her free time, she enjoys going on a run with friends, thrifting, baking, as well as spending time with family and learning to cook traditional Mexican dishes with them. She is excited to work with the Office of Sustainability this year and contribute towards its efforts in promoting sustainability goals through connecting with students and encouraging environmental awareness on campus!
