Amelia Chien

Amelia Chien is a junior from Canton, Massachusetts. She has a double major in Environmental Sciences and Natural Resources with concentrations in Sustainable Systems and Water Resources and Climate respectively. This summer, Amelia was a research assistant in the Natural Resources department. There she worked with professors to help create algorithms to inform regulations on equitable storm water protections by identifying patterns in FEMA flood data and rainfall totals to standardize stormwater pipe size. In addition, for the past two years, Amelia has worked for the Office of Academic Programs for the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources as a Student Ambassador. In the future, Amelia wants to work in water resource management and regulation to help provide equitable clean water access to all people, particularly those in historically marginalized groups and communities. At COP31 she hopes to learn more about the connection between societal systems and water scarcity to help create more effective management practices and policies to help those disproportionately affected by environmental negligence.
