Suhitha Sreedhar
Thrift Den Intern
Office of Sustainability
Suhitha Sreedhar is a senior at UConn majoring in Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. She is a strong advocate for sustainability and waste management and firmly believes in the saying “The world has enough for everyone’s needs, but not everyone’s greed.” She is also minoring in Social Responsibility and Impact in Business, striving to integrate ethical and sustainable practices into everyday business operations.
She co-founded Thrift Den, UConn’s student-run free thrift store, to make sustainable fashion more accessible while reducing textile waste. Growing up in India, she witnessed firsthand how post-consumer waste often ended up in landfills as a result of careless consumption habits. Moving to the U.S. for college broadened her understanding of the issue’s global scale and the importance of responsible conscious fashion consumption – a perspective further deepened by her semester abroad in London, where she explored how sustainability priorities vary across different cultural and national contexts. She hopes to continue building on this foundation by learning how sustainable systems are built, funded, and scaled.
At Thrift Den, she leads communications and social media, and coordinates the sewing workshops, merging her passion for fashion and sustainability with her interest in marketing and project coordination. She hopes to drive lasting change by championing responsible business practices and promoting a more circular economy.
Beyond Thrift Den, Suhitha serves as a Peer Mentor at the School of Business, where she enjoys encouraging students and helping them navigate college life, believing that genuine guidance and community support can create a lasting impact.
