Nafeesa Alam

Sustainability Intern, Stamford Campus

Office of Sustainability

Nafeesa is sophomore majoring in Chemistry and she is currently in the pre-dental track. She is working with the Office of Sustainability at the Stamford Regional Campus, where they contribute to sustainability initiatives aimed at creating a more environmentally responsible community. In addition to her work in sustainability, Nafeesa has demonstrated leadership and dedication through various roles, including serving as an Honors Facilitator, and working as an Honors Mentor. Nafeesa has also gained valuable experience in research, investigating the impact of heart rate, muscle force, and tidal volume in college students when carrying a weighted backpack. This research, which explored physical exertion and its effects on college students, deepened her understanding of health and wellness. Additionally, as the lead intern for a public health internship with the Leadership Initiative, Nafeesa worked on a project focused on the spread of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) in Bauchi, Nigeria. Her team conducted research and used the findings to create a pamphlet and workshop aimed at preventing the spread of ARI in the community. On campus, Nafeesa is actively involved in the Pre-Health Club and the Muslim Student Association (MSA), where she continues to build a strong foundation in both leadership and community engagement. With these experiences, Nafeesa is committed to making a positive impact on campus and beyond, fostering a future of collaboration, innovation, and environmental and public health stewardship.
