Malak Nechnach

Malak Nechnach is a senior majoring in Physiology and Neurobiology with a minor in Mathematics. She currently conducts neuroscience research in the Sciolino Lab, where she studies how high-fat diets affect stress-responsive norepinephrine circuits. Malak is also a McNair Scholar and a 2025 SURF Award recipient, as well as the founder and president of the Undergraduate Research Society and the Undergraduate Science Journal, where she works to expand access to research and create supportive communities for students. Beyond academics, she has been involved in sustainability and justice initiatives in Morocco through the Savedreams Association and ShapeSAMU, supporting rural schools and refugee families. She is passionate about translational neuroscience, stress, and mental health, and in the future hopes to pursue a PhD in neuroscience. Outside of the lab and leadership roles, Malak enjoys playing soccer, fitness, and playing the piano.
