Office of Sustainability

Madelyn Kelly is a senior environmental engineering major at the University of Connecticut from Groton, Massachusetts. She has built a strong academic foundation through her coursework and an internship at BETA Group, Inc., where she gained practical experience in the field. During a study abroad program in Zurich, Switzerland, she explored sustainable transportation and infrastructure systems, which deepened her interest in how thoughtful design can promote both equity and environmental stewardship. As captain of the UConn Women’s Rugby Team, she has developed resilience, teamwork, and leadership skills that carry into her academic and professional pursuits. Passionate about environmental justice, Madelyn plans to attend law school after graduation to pursue a career in environmental and human rights law, with a particular focus on the international sphere. She is driven by the belief that access to clean air, water, and sustainable infrastructure is a fundamental human right, and she hopes to use her technical background to advocate for communities facing environmental inequities worldwide.
