Faryal Akbar

Sustainability Intern


Faryal is studying Physiology and Neurobiology with minors in Bioinformatics and Molecular and Cell Biology. Some of her interests include sustainability efforts in ties with the biotechnology field and raising education on waste management.

Outside of class, Faryal conducts microbiology research and works at a biotech startup where she is helping to revolutionize the world of wound healing. She is also part of the Asian American Mentorship Program at UConn and enjoys spending time with her fellow AMP mentors. For her remaining time at UConn, Faryal hopes to get involved in environmental research opportunities as well as community outreach. In the future, Faryal hopes to be part of the biotech industry or pursue higher education in medicine.
