Claire Lawrence

Sustainability Intern

Office of Sustainability

Claire is a senior studying Applied Data Analysis and Public Policy. It is her second year as a sustainability intern, where she focuses on data collection and analysis for AASHE Stars, UI GreenMetric, and more. She also fulfills data requests and helps plan campus-wide events with her fellow interns.
Claire’s interest in sustainability began during her childhood in Austin, Texas, where she watched as record-breaking droughts destroyed her community. Since attending UConn and moving to Maine, she has pursued her passion for sustainability and climate as the CLAS representative for the UConn Sustainability Policy, Energy, and Environment Advisory Commitee (SPEEAC), helped organize events for Fossil Free UConn, researched the impacts of clean energy with the UConn Energy and Elections Lab, and attended the Second Nature Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit and the Local Conference of Youth USA.
Outside of sustainability, she is the Vice President of UConn Mock Trial, where she competes with a dedicated team of students to win high-pressure debates and practice public speaking and teamwork skills. Additionally, she spent her summer working with the Maine Office of Information Technology to redesign their data catalog and provide outreach and resources to underserved municipalities in the state. In her free time, she enjoys mountain biking, baking, and watching women’s basketball.
After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career that combines her skills in data analytics with her passion for sustainability, while one day running for local office to make a difference in her home state.
