Brenny Alcantara is a Junior majoring in Environmental Science and Political Science. He spent his first two years at the Waterbury Campus where he served as the Regional Campus Sustainability Intern for a semester and worked on various projects/programs. Optimistic about the future and relentlessly ambitious, Brenny always seeks out new knowledge and opportunities that can benefit him and his goals. He strives for a career in public service while simultaneously working on multiple other side projects and jobs.
Currently, Brenny is working with the Office of Sustainability as a Sustainability Intern, working on an independent research project regarding phosphorus recycling, working on a group project focused on combating student sleep deprivation at Waterbury, serving as a commissioner for the city of Waterbury’s Litter Control and Beautification Commission, serving on a Mad River Steering Committee, and hosting monthly community clean-ups. In the past, Brenny participated in the U21 Micro-Internship program and the Share Program, taught as a Peer-Mentor, worked at an environmental wastewater lab, took care of beetles, etc.
Brenny continues his college momentum to gain a strong broad foundation that will prepare him to understand the complexities the world offers. He will climb the political ladder and continue working hard to make the world and environment a better place for all.
