Anagha Payyambally

COP30 Fellow


Anagha Payyambally is a graduate student in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of Connecticut. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry and an M.S. in Marine Chemistry, and her doctoral research at UConn focuses on the production and emissions of greenhouse gases from the ocean. Anagha is a recipient of the prestigious Quad Fellowship, awarded by the governments of India, Japan, Australia, and the United States. She has also completed a summer certificate program in Science Policy and Advocacy, reflecting her commitment to bridging science and policy. Beyond her academic work, she serves as a core committee member of Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOP) in India. Her leadership and advocacy efforts have been recognized through her selection to represent Connecticut at the Congressional Visits Day on Capitol Hill, where she met with members of Congress to champion science funding and policies. Looking ahead, Anagha is excited to attend COP30 to further explore the ocean–climate nexus.
